Description
The Moluccan cockatoo, also known as the Salmon-crested cockatoo, is endemic to the Seram in eastern Indonesia. It is one of the largest of the white cockatoos.
The Moluccan cockatoo is a vulnerable species and has been listed with CITES (the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) since 1998 which makes trade in wild-caught birds illegal.
These birds are popular not only for their beauty but also because of their high intelligence; this makes them very trainable.
