This is Romeo our Moluccan cockatoo. He came to the Pana’ewa Zoo in 2017 when he was about 20 years old. He rides a skateboard around the zoo every Tuesday and Thursday. He loves having visitors stop and talk to him. He loves to scream when no one pays attention to him or when he get excited and raises his large retractable recumbent crest. If you keep talking to him, he will quietly say “Hi” in a very shy voice, and if you walk by and ignore him completely, he says “Hi Romeo”! So, you must go back to talk to him. Romeo has an enrichment day every Tuesday and Thursday, here he is practicing how to throw the ball.
