   The zoo is open every day of the year except Christmas day and New Year's day.

   The Pana'ewa Rainforest Zoo and Gardens is located  at 800 Stainback Hwy, Hilo, HI 96720.


4. Can I see the animals being fed?


   We feed the alligators every day at 1:30 p.m.


5. Do you have a petting zoo?


   Bring the keiki (children) to enjoy our petting zoo - open every Saturday from 1:30 p.m to 2:30 p.m. The zoo also has a playground that your keiki can enjoy.


6. What is the entrance fee?


   The zoo is operated by Hawaii County and receives its funding from the County and from private donations. Admission is free.

   For information about renting a pavilion for an event please contact Hawaii County Department of Parks and Recreation at (808) 961-8311.


9. Do you accept donations?


   Yes, Friends of the Zoo is happy to accept donations. All proceeds go to support and maintain the zoo grounds and its animals and plants. There is a donation box at the zoo entrance or you can donate by clicking the "Donate" button on the top right of the website.


10. Is parking available and what does parking cost?


   There is a paved parking lot at the zoo and it is free to park there.


11. What do the tigers' names, Tzatziki and Sriracha, mean?


   For those who don’t know the meaning of the names, here’s the facts. Tzatziki is a delicious, white Greek sauce with cucumbers and yogurt as the main ingredients. Sriracha is a popular type of hot sauce made from chili peppers.
